New Background Check Authorization Form

Dear Scout Leader:

Shortly as a registered Scout Leader, you will receive an email from our National Council of the Boy Scout of America regarding additional disclosures and background check authorization forms.  These forms must be completed for all new and currently registered adult leaders.

Since 2003, background checks have been conducted on every new adult when they apply to register, and in 2008 a background check was conducted on all currently registered adults. In 2020, the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America will implement periodic criminal background checks on a five-year basis. The first periodic recheck will take place next January (2020).

In preparation for this, the required disclosures and authorization documents are being updated to ensure compliance with current local, state, and federal laws.

Protection of our Scouts is our number priority. As re-chartering is coming up in the next few months you will be asked to complete the new additional disclosure form and turn these forms in with your re-charter packet. These form can be found HERE
